Zero is indeed a 2018 Indian comedy-drama film directed by Aanand L. Rai and produced by Colour Yellow Productions in cooperation with Red Chillies Entertainment. It was written by Himanshu Sharma as well as helmed by Aanand L. Rai. Zero, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, as well as Anushka Sharma, is about Bauua Singh, a small guy from Meerut who, after struggling to find a marriage partner, meets Aafia Bhinder, an NSAR (a fictitious space research centre) scientist with cerebral palsy.
Nevertheless, cinema diva Babita develops feelings for him, putting his first relationship towards the test, until their love triangle leads them to far-flung locations, forcing Bauua into such a journey to find both real love as well as fulfilment in a life lived toward the fullest.
Zero, Khan’s most costly movie, is made on a budget of 200 crores and also was conceptualised by Rai in 2012, while pre-production commenced in 2016. It started out as Katrina Meri Jaan and went through with a number of new names eventually settling on the main installment in early 2018. Filming began started in Mumbai in May 2017 and ended in Orlando in 2018.
T-Series released the music, which was created by Ajay-Atul with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil.
On December 21, 2018, Zero was released to mixed reviews from reviewers. The movie’s visual effects and Khan and Kaif’s performances were acclaimed by critics, while the narrative was criticised for being uneven. It received seven nominations at the 64th Filmfare Awards, notably Best Actor for Khan and Best Supporting Actress for Kaif, despite failing to repay its investment and becoming a box office catastrophe. The award for Best Special Effects went to Red Chillies VFX.
The plot of the movie-
Bauua Singh is a dwarf from Meerut who is having difficulty finding a wife. He ultimately finds his companion in Aafia Yusufzai Bhinder, an NSAR scientist (a fictionalised portrayal of NASA) with cerebral palsy, after unsuccessfully employing matrimonial agencies. Both fall in love with one other in the events that follow, but Bauua ditches her after five months. Aafia, on the other hand, comes seeking for him, and Bauua’s parents are able to save their marriage. On the day of their wedding, Bauua’s buddy Guddu informs him that he has been shortlisted for a dancing competition in which the winner would get the opportunity to meet Bollywood star Babita Kumari. After a fight with Aafia, Baua, desperate to meet Babita, flees the marriage, leaving everyone distraught.
Bauua wins and is invited to a party where he will meet Babita as well as other prominent Bollywood stars. Babita gives him a job when he demonstrates the ability to read people’s minds by observing them. He joins her on set and during award shows, assisting her in reconciling with her ex-boyfriend Aditya Kapoor, who had previously cheated on her. To make Bauua realise his error, he informs Babita about Aafia, who then falsely tells him that her parents were dwarfs and that her father cheated on her mother.
He recognises his mistakes and, in an attempt to make up with Aafia, creates a fight at a party hosted by Babita, after which Babita kicks him out and cuts all connections with Aditya after discovering the latter is cheating on her and then.
Aafia is attending a lecture in New York, so Bauua and Guddu fly there. Aafia refuses to see Bauaa as he disrupts the lecture to meet her. Aafia’s father informs him how Aafia was pregnant with Bauua’s kid, which is why she desired to marry him in the first place. Bauua, who is upset, chooses to leave the city but returns to try his luck once more.
Bauua enlists in a programme recruiting human volunteers to be taken to Mars aboard a rocket after meeting with Aafia at NSAR and being rejected by her. Bauaa is chosen after arduous training and assistance from one of the applicants, but Guddu is denied due to his eyesight impairment. Aafia, who was scheduled to marry Srinivasan, a fellow scientist and Aafia’s colleague, on the day of Bauua’s launch, abandons him and arrives at NSAR seconds before Bauua’s launch. Just as the rocket lifts off, Bauua reminds her that he has always loved her. Aafia, Guddu, and Srinivasan, as well as Babita and Bauua’s relatives, watch the launch live on television. The launch goes off without a hitch, and the rocket blasts out into space.
Bauua finally reaches Mars and transmits a video clip of himself from there, according to a voice-over by Aafia. His rocket goes missing in orbit, and Aafia is waiting for him. A Chinese space station detects the signal of Bauua’s escape pod, which crashes into the Pacific Ocean fifteen years later, indicating Bauua is still alive.
