Shakti Soundar Rajan wrote and directed Tik Tik Tik, a 2018 Tamil-language science fiction action thriller movie. The primary actors inside the movie are Jayam Ravi, Nivetha Pethuraj, as well as Aaron Aziz. This movie was loosely inspired by Michael Bay’s Armageddon (1998). On June 22, 2018, the movie was released. It is India’s first space movie. The film received plaudits for its visual effects, but it was panned for its illogical storylines and poor narrative. It earned 57.63 crores and had a ‘Hit’ rating.
The DSD team, led by Mahendran (Jayaprakash), discovers that an asteroid would strike Earth in seven days.
The lives of four crore people in Chennai and its environs are in jeopardy. A hefty rocket would be the only method to kill the asteroid.
However, due to the limited time available, there is only one option to get the missile: illegally. Only the Prime Minister, the Home Minister, and the Defense Minister are aware of the mission’s existence. The most difficult task now is to get it into space, which will need experienced thieves.
Vasu (Jayam Ravi) and his companions Venkat (Ramesh Thilak) and Appu (Arjunan) are enlisted as escape artists. DSD members Swathi (Nivetha Pethuraj) and Raguram will be joining them (Vincent Asokan).
They join the spaceship Dhruva 1 after completing their training. Vasu hears a mystery voice on his communication device’s voice channel just before takeoff. Ravi, Vasu’s son, has indeed been kidnapped, according to the voice. Vasu must follow the voice’s instructions in order to free him. The introduction of Dhruva 1 was a success. The voice instructs Vasu to break several wires en route to the space station, which would result in a fuel leak. He pretends to be unconscious before cutting the lines.
When Venkat asks why he’s doing it, he explains Ravi’s kidnapping. Dhruva 1 spirals out of control as well as crashes into the moon as a result.
When the crew goes outside to make repairs to the ship, they discover that the cables have been severed. The spacecraft has been repaired, but it is running low on gasoline. Vasu recommends recharging from the space station they’ll be visiting, so they’ll have a reason to go inside. They agree to the proposal and request permission to refuel from the space station, which is granted by the crew on board. Dhruva 1 then departs from the moon on its way to the space station.
Lt. Gen. T. Rithika (Rethika Srinivas) discovers photographs of Vasu cutting the wires and brings them to Mahendran’s notice. Mahendran decides not to pursue the situation any further. However, Dhruva 1 docks safely at the space station, however the crew is detained by the crew members, who are led by Captain Li Wei (Aaron Aziz). It is revealed that perhaps the crew of the station is aware of Dhruva 1’s actual objectives. They want to hold them off so that the asteroid hits the Bay of Bengal, devastating India while benefiting their country from the massive reconstruction work that would be required. Venkat and Appu hack the space station, creating a power outage, while Vasu acquires Captain Li Wei’s fingerprint and iris in order to gain access to the missile chamber. Vasu is able to make the missile vanish without setting off the alert system.
Captain Li Wei notices this and interrogates the crew, violently abusing them. Vasu claims that the missile is aboard Dhruva 1, but when some of the crew accompany him on the ship, he murders them. He informs Swathi that the missile is aimed at the capital of the country that owns the missile, and even if the crew of Dhruva 1 is not freed, he would launch the missile at the city. The crew of the Dhruva 1 is liberated and returns to the ship, while Vasu investigates the compartment housing the missile, where it is discovered that the missile has been present the entire time. He snatches the missile and flies the ship into space, but his spacesuit is punctured by a piece of the station.
The oxygen tank begins to leak as a result of this. However, he is successful in delivering the missile to Dhruva 1. Vasu is resurrected as the spacecraft leaves from the space station. Dhruva 2 comes in the meanwhile to refuel Dhruva 1.
The reason the cables had to be severed in order for Dhruva 2 to be mobilised is now revealed. Rithika hears this on Mahendran’s communication device when the mystery voice urges Vasu to give over the missile to the crew of Dhruva 2. She visits his office, where Mahendran assassinates her, revealing that he is the mysterious voice that wants to sell the missile on the illicit market.
However, Dhruva 1 refuels and rushes to the asteroid to fire the missile, only to discover that the missile has vanished. Ravi, on the other hand, has been released. Mahendran displays photographs of Vasu sabotaging the ship and claims that Vasu is to blame. The team understood they’d failed and that India would be annihilated as a result. They later reveal, however, that the missile remains on board the spaceship and is ready to shoot. Vasu had informed Swathi and Raguram about the mystery voice, and he had given Dhruva 2 a missile decoy. The ship’s systems were hacked to make it appear as if the asteroid had passed over a safety line when it had not.
The missile is launched, and the asteroid is shattered in half, averting collision with the planet. Dhruva 1, on the other hand, has been struck by debris and is going to detonate. The crew makes it to Earth in time to escape the spacecraft. Ravi discloses the truth about Mahendran on Earth after grabbing a gold chain that belonged to him. Days later, Mahendran presents the Dhruva 1 crew with medals, and Vasu discloses that the whole crew is aware of Mahendran. He then goes backstage and kills himself while Vasu, Appu, and Venkat walk away.
