The Hobbit

The Hobbit is indeed a movie trilogy helmed by Peter Jackson that consists of three high fantasy adventure movies. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2013), The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013), and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014) are indeed the three movies. These movies are centred on J. R. R. Tolkien’s 1937 novel The Hobbit, including substantial chunks of the trilogy inspired by The Return of the King’s appendices, that build on the tale described in The Hobbit, as well as new material and characters created specifically for such movies. They serve as a precursor to Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Jackson, as well as Guillermo del Toro wrote the screenplay, with del Toro initially set to helm until he dropped out. The movies are set sixty years well Before Lord of the Rings as well as try to emulate hobbit Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), who now is persuaded by that of the wizard Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen) to join thirteen dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on such a quest to recapture the Lonely Mountain as from dragon Smaug. These movies elaborate on various parts of the novel as well as other original material, including as Gandalf’s inquiry at Dol Guldur and Azog and Bolg’s pursuit of Thorin as well as his kindred for revenge.

James Nesbitt, Ken Stott, Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace, as well as Luke Evans star in the flicks, which also feature Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Hugo Weaving, Elijah Wood, as well as Andy Serkis repeating their characters from The Lord of the Rings.

Manu Bennett, Sylvester McCoy, Mikael Persbrandt, Lawrence Makoare, and Stephen Fry star in the movie. Illustrators John Howe and Alan Lee, art director Dan Hennah, cameraman Andrew Lesnie, and composer Howard Shore all returned for production, whereas props were once again created by Weta Workshop, having visual effects overseen by Weta Digital.

On November 28, 2012, the very first movie of the trilogy opened there at Embassy Theatre in Wellington, New Zealand. The red carpet in Courtenay Place was lined with 100,000 spectators, as well as the entire incident was aired live on New Zealand television as well as broadcast well over the Internet. On December 2, 2013, the second movie in the franchise opened there at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. On December 1, 2014, the completed movie debuted there at Odeon Leicester Square in London. Despite conflicting critical reviews, the series was a commercial success.
