The Chronicles of Riddick

The Chronicles of Riddick is indeed a science fiction action space Western media franchise that spans three live-action feature films, a direct-to-DVD animated movie, two video games for PC as well as consoles, one motion comic, one mobile game, as well as two novelizations. It was created in 2000 by brothers Ken and Jim Wheat and later continued by writer-director David Twohy.

The series is set inside the 28th century and chronicles the exploits of antihero Riddick (played or voiced by Vin Diesel). The fictional universe of the Chronicles of Riddick began well with the release of Pitch Black, a film written by filmmaker Twohy and brothers Ken and Jim Wheat based on such a narrative invented by the latter brothers. Ever since, Twohy has written and directed both live-action sequels, as well as been involved inside the plot creation of a number of the franchise’s spin-offs.

Into Pitch, Black was indeed a Sci-Fi Channel programme that aired before Pitch Black and followed law enforcement officers probing Riddick’s history as well as the crash of The Hunter Gratzner. It has a number of contradictions with the official storylines of other movies and video games. The investigator, a psychiatrist analysing Riddick, the purported doctor that gave Riddick his signature eyeshine, the team that probed the disappearance of both the Hunter-Gratzner and numerous snippets from the real movie Pitch Black are among the five separate sequences.

In June 2004, David Twohy revealed that he was scripting the narrative for a Syfy television movie episode based on the character Kyra from The Chronicles of Riddick.

Diesel revealed on his Instagram account in December 2015 that he and Twohy were working on such a TV series called Merc City, which will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters.

Frank Lauria and Alan Dean Foster, respectfully, have novelized their scripts for Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick. Pitch Black provides character history for Riddick, whereas The Chronicles of Riddick describes the Necromongers as well as their religion in greater depth.
