According to the reports by Times Now, the Kolkata Police has issued a notice to Mithun Chakraborty over his controversial BJP rally.

The official handles of Times now took to their Twitter and wrote,  #KolkataPolice issues notice to #BJP leader & actor #MithunChakraborty over his controversial rally. Mithun has been asked to join the probe virtually on June 28.

Earlier, the high court of Calcutta had directed the actor to share his email address with the state so that he can make himself available for questioning through video conferencing. Police officer, Mrinal Kanti Mukherjee confirmed the questioning.

A Kolkata resident name Mrityunjay Pal lodged a complaint against Mithun on May 6. The actor used a monologue from one of his popular Bengali movies in which his character describes himself as a cobra whose bite can kill anyone. He used the dialogue like “marbo ekhane lash porbe shoshane (Will hit you here and the body will land in the crematorium)” and “ek chobole chabi (one snake bite and you will turn into a photograph)” at a rally in Kolkata after he joined the BJP on March 7.

The complaint alleged that these dialogues were a cause for poll violence in the state. The actor was been accused of promoting enmity between different groups, an intentional insult to provoke breach of peace, and making statements conducing to public mischief.
