Madgaon Express Movie Review: Movie takes on a thrilling ride with lots of laughter.

by Aruna Purve

Step aboard the “Madgaon Express,” a cinematic journey steered by the multi-talented Kunal Khemu in his directorial debut. Buckle up for a thrilling ride through the labyrinth of human emotions and intrigue, as Kunal Khemu takes audiences on a gripping expedition through the heart and soul of India’s railways. With twists and turns aplenty, this film promises to be an electrifying adventure that will leave viewers spellbound from the opening scene to the final destination.

Nowadays, it seems that fewer people are planning trips to Goa. Typically, Gen Z individuals often plan Goa trips for fun and enjoyment. In his directorial debut, Kunal Khemu precisely illustrates how a middle-class boy plans a Goa trip with his NRI friends to experience a different level of enjoyment. However, the trip turns out to be a result of abrupt planning.

The story begins with Divyenndu as Dodo, planning a Goa trip with his NRI friends Ayush Tiwary as Ayush and Pratik Gandhi as Pinku. However, the trip takes an unexpected turn as they embark on a train journey from Mumbai to Goa aboard the Madgaon Express. It’s during this journey that the plot takes a thrilling turn when the trio discovers a bag containing money and guns, leading to a series of adventurous experiences that redefine their trip.

Kunal Khemu, the director of the film, himself serves as the surprising element from where the actual story unfolds. What begins as a fun and enjoyable trip quickly transforms into an adventurous journey as the boys encounter Kanchan Komdi (Chhaya Kadam), a supplier affiliated with a large group of women seeking revenge on her ex-husband, Mendoza (Upendra Limaye). Ayush is inadvertently drawn into the frame when Kanchan Komdi mistakes him as Ganpat.

Pinku inadvertently falls victim to an overdose of cocaine found in their room, causing a dramatic shift in his character from innocence to coolness. In an effort to help his friend return to normalcy, Dodo seeks assistance from Tasha (Nora Fatehi), who takes them to a doctor, none other than Remo D’Souza. However, the trio soon finds themselves caught in the midst of a mishap involving Mendoza and Kanchan Komdi.

However, the most suspenseful moment of the movie occurs at the end, when Dr. Denny (Remo D’Souza) reveals himself to be a police officer. He offers to assist the boys in resolving their predicament, prompting Ayush to devise a master plan with Dr. Denny to apprehend the real culprits and gangsters with the assistance of the Goa police team.

“Madgaon Express” delivers a rollercoaster ride of suspense, drama, and unexpected twists that keep viewers on the edge of their seats from start to finish. Kunal Khemu’s directorial debut shines with its gripping narrative, stellar performances, and stunning visuals, all set against the backdrop of a train journey from Mumbai to Goa. As the story unfolds, audiences are taken on a thrilling adventure filled with intrigue, moral dilemmas, and the resilience of friendship. With its expert pacing and thought-provoking themes, “Madgaon Express” is a must-watch for anyone craving a cinematic experience that leaves a lasting impression. It’s a journey you won’t soon forget.
