According to the current annual survey done by the South Korean government, South Korea’s most popular actor Lee Min Ho and South Korean juggernaut BTS were chosen as the world’s most popular Hallyu stars.
According to the AllKpop publication, Lee Min Ho was voted the most favoured Korean actor on February 14th, while BTS was voted the most favoured K-Pop singer for two years in a row, based on the ‘2022 Overseas Hallyu Report’ conducted by Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korean Foundation for International Culture Exchange (KOFICE).
The yearly poll was performed online from November 5th to December 8th, 2021, with 8,500 participants ranging in age from 15 to 59 years old from over 18 nations, including the United States, Russia, and Japan. Various questions concerning Hallyu were covered in the poll, ranging from K-Pop to Kdrama.
BTS earns the top K-Pop star place for the second year in a row, with 26.7 per cent of the vote, followed by Blackpink with 10.4 per cent, IU in third (2.8 per cent), and Lisa in fourth (2.4 per cent). With 2.2 per cent, Psy and TWICE came in fifth, followed by EXO with 1.7 per cent. Lee Jong Suk (1.7 per cent) from W: Two World and Jun Ji Hyun (1.6 per cent) from My Love From Another Star finished in second and third, respectively.
