Brave Girls and Kep1er are in talks for a sequel to a hit reality show

MNet has allegedly invited South Korean female groups VIVIZ, ITZY, Brave Girls, and Kep1er to star in the second season of their highly anticipated survival programme Queendom.

Industry officials told the Korean newspaper Soompi on February 4 that Queendom 2 is completing the cast roster through meetings with several female groups such as VIVIZ, ITZY, Brave Girls, and Kep1er who are in talks for the programme.

“It is true that we are studying alternatives of numerous girl groups,” a Queendom 2 source said in reaction to the news. “But nothing has been verified yet.”

According to MNet, the forthcoming reality series is set to premiere on March 31 and will feature Taeyeon from Girls’ Generation as that of the presenter. “Taeyeon is a prominent musician that leads worldwide K-pop,” according to the statement. “She does have a wide variety of music admirers at home and abroad.” “Above all, we expect her to play a diversified role above that of the program’s host, as just a role model that junior girl groups aspire to imitate.”

In the very first season of Queendom, which premiered in August 2019, well-known female singers such as AOA, MAMAMOO, Lovelyz, OH MY GIRL, (G)I-DLE, and vocalist Park Bom competed in a hard “comeback war” with varied songs and performances every week.

As the programme grew in popularity, new versions of male idol groups were introduced, beginning with Road To Kingdom in 2020 and Kingdom: Legendary War in 2021.
