Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty is indeed a 2014 Bollywood Hindi-language action thriller film directed by A. R. Murugadoss as well as featuring Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, and Freddy Daruwala, with Govinda and Sumeet Raghavan in prominent parts. It is a remake of Murugadoss’ original Tamil movie Thuppakki, which was released in 2012. It depicts an Indian Army officer who travels in Mumbai on vacation as well as sets out again to track down the terrorist head of a sleeper cell network then deactivate the sleeper cells under his command.

On June 6, 2014, the movie was released globally. The picture, which had a budget of $500 million, was a major triumph at the box office.

Holiday was among the highest-grossing Bollywood movies of 2014, collecting over 1.70 billion dollars globally. Kumar’s performance was praised, and he was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Actor.

Pritam created the movie’s soundtrack CD, which was released on May 12, 2014. Kaushik Dutta created more songs for the audio CD, which have been released on June 2, 2014. Irshad Kamil wrote the lyrics for such songs used in the movie. The lyrics for Kaushik Dutta’s music were written by Sukumar Dutta. The movie’s background soundtrack was created by Prasad Sashte. On March 17, 2016, a reprise performance of the song “Ashq Na Ho” was released.

Singer Asees Kaur sang the Reprise version.

The critical response to the movie has been overwhelmingly good. ABP News gave it a 4.5/5 rating, describing that as a “fast-paced, exciting roller coaster experience.” Taran Adarsh awarded it a 4/5 rating, saying, “It’s a sleek action-thriller that keeps you hooked, intrigued, and riveted the entire time, owing to its brilliant idea and a watertight, razor-sharp script.”

Now, this praises the jawans who live inside the jaws of death, as well as being a ‘wake up call for any and all the sleepers that abound, according to the Times of India, which scored the movie 3.5 stars. Bravo!”

“The action moments typically have suspense and impact,” according to Rachel Saltz of The New York Times, “even though the movie is old-school lengthy – 2 hours 41 minutes – as well as the storyline, doesn’t withstand too much inspection.” Some people were critical of the movie’s romance aspect. The Hindustan Times appreciated Akshay Kumar’s performance. “That this film is still not as horrible as most typical Akshay Kumar starters, despite multiple such harebrained moments, is from the credit of director AR Murgadoss, who doesn’t let anything as little as common sense goes in the way of delivering a handy tale,” CNN-Rajeev IBN’s Masand said.
