Prashanth Neel wrote and directed K.G.F: Chapter 1, a 2018 Indian Kannada-language period action movie produced by Vijay Kiragandur underneath the name of Hombale Films. This is the first part of a two-part series, which will be followed by K.G.F: Chapter 2. The movie stars Yash in the major role of Rocky, and debutante Ramachandra Raju in the part of Garuda. Srinidhi Shetty, Vasishta N. Simha, Achyuth Kumar, as well as Malavika Avinash play supporting parts in the movie, which is narrated by Anant Nag. The movie had an 80-crore budget, making this the most costly Kannada-language movie just at the time it was released.

Rocky, a poor boy who grows up to become a high-ranking criminal in Mumbai, is the subject of the movie. Reformed, he subsequently appears as a slave labourer for such Narachi Company (Kolar Gold Fields) in order to murder Garuda, the cult’s eventual successor.

The production of the movie started in early 2015, following Neel completing the screenplay. Two years later, on January 15, 2017, the shooting commenced. The majority of the movie was shot in Kolar, Mysore, as well as other parts of North Karnataka, and therefore is set in the Kolar Gold Fields. On August 17, 2018, the film’s production was concluded. The cinematography was performed by Bhuvan Gowda, and the editing was done by Srikanth Gowda. The film’s soundtrack was composed by Ravi Basrur.

After just a successful North American premiere on December 20, 2018, a Kannada version of K.G.F: Chapter 1 got published, followed by Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, as well as Hindi-dubbed versions the following morning. Critics, on the other hand, had conflicting feelings about the picture. The movie was a commercial success, generating a total of 250 crores throughout its theatrical run, breaking the record for the highest-grossing Kannada movie of all time. The film received two honours at the 66th National Film Awards, including Best Action as well as Best Special Effects.

The film has received two prizes from five nominations there at 66th Filmfare Awards South, comprising Best Film and Best Actor for Yash, correspondingly.

The Soundtrack of the movie-

Tanishk Bagchi restored the tune “Gali Gali” from Tridev (1989) for the Hindi version, whereas Ravi Basrur wrote the soundtrack album as well as the movie’s score. The movie’s audio licenses in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam were purchased by Lahari Music for 3.6 crores, a record figure for any South Indian movie; the Hindi version’s music rights were bought by T-Series.

The song “Salaam Rocky Bhai” was released as that of the album’s first single. It was released on 7 December 2018 in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, together with the entire soundtrack album; the Hindi version actually album will be released on 9 December 2018.

The movie’s score was published in two volumes, one of which was released on September 10, 2019, as well as the second of which was released on October 12, 2019.

KRG Studios, a sibling business of Hombale Films, purchased the distribution rights for the Kannada adaptation. Rithesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, as well as Anil Thadani, obtained the rights to the Hindi version of the movie and distributed this under their Excel Entertainment and AA Films brands.

Vishal Film Factory and Vaaraahi Chalana Chitram were granted the right towards the Tamil and Telugu dubbed editions. The movie’s Malayalam dubbing licenses were acquired to Global United Media.
