The live-action Goosebumps TV series is coming to Disney+

The new Goosebumps live-action series, based on R.L. Stine’s blockbuster books, will premiere on Disney+ later this year. The streaming site has secured a 10-episode order for the new series, which was initially announced in April 2020.

According to Variety, the show follows “a gang of five high students who unleash supernatural forces upon their town and must all work together, despite their friendships, rivalries, and pasts with one another, to preserve it, learning a lot about their own parents’ adolescent secrets in the process.”

Nick Stoller and Rob Letterman will write and executive produce the desired Goosebumps series, with Nick Stoller executive producing under Stoller Global Solutions. The first episode of the show is supposed to be directed by Rob Letterman, who also helmed the original Goosebumps movie.

Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, Stoller Global Solutions’ Conor Welch, and Scholastic Entertainment’s Iole Lucchese as well as Caitlin Friedman are also executive producers, alongside Sony Pictures Television Studios acting as producer.

The new Goosebumps series on Disney+ is the second live-action Goosebumps series to premiere. Between 1996 and 1998, the original version ran for four seasons and 74 episodes. Each episode of the show was focused on a different “Goosebumps” novel, and it was an episodic anthology.
