Dracula film with Nicolas Cage and Nicholas Hault, has begun production

Universal Pictures recently shared a shot on its social media channels announcing the start of production on Renfield, starring Nicholas Hoult as Dracula and Nicolas Cage as the titular character.

“And it begins…#Renfield,” the studio captioned a photo of the clapboard from the set with the title Renfield and a short message. The title design is similar to one of the posters for Universal’s first Dracula picture, which was released in 1931.

Renfield is now in development and centres on R.M. Renfield, the famed monster’s top henchman, who is portrayed by Nicholas Hoult. Renfield’s character will be the focus of the plot for the first time, well with the vampire taking a quick seat.

Chris McKay (The LEGO Batman Movie) is directing the picture, which has a script by Robert Kirkman (The Walking Dead) and Ryan Ridley (Rick & Morty). The release date has yet to be determined.

In addition to Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) and Awkwafina (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Adrian Martinez, and the recently added Shohreh Aghdashloo, the star-studded monster film also stars Ben Schwartz (Parks and Recreation) and Awkwafina (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Adrian Martinez, and Shohreh Aghdashloo.

Prior to Renfield, Nicolas Cage will appear with Pedro Pascal in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Nicholas Hoult has played a zombie in Warm Bodies, a Beast in the X-Men franchise, and a War Boy in Mad Max: Fury Road. He was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for his latest performance in season two of Hulu’s The Great.
