In the United States, Squid Game will be released in theatres

Squid Game, Netflix’s mega-popular South Korean thriller series, will allegedly visit large screens in the United States after receiving four Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award nominations this year.

According to Variety, Netflix is screening the Korean-language thriller in two-night theatre engagements in both New York and Los Angeles as the Screen Actors Guild Award voting proceeds. “The first season of Squid Game will be screened over two Saturday afternoons, on February 12 and 19, at the Netflix-operated Paris Theater in New York, and at the Netflix-operated Bay Theater in Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades district,” Variety reports.

Squid Game, Netflix’s most-watched series, premiered internationally on September 17, 2021, to critical praise and global interest. The survival thriller made history at the SAG Awards when it became the first Korean show to get major nominations. In addition to Succession, Yellowstone, The Morning Show, and The Handmaid’s Tale, the series was nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble Series.

Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor for Lee Jung Jae, Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor for Jung Ho Yeon, and Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble were all nominated for the show.

In addition to SAG nominations, the show has received 26 guild nominations, including a PGA Award nomination for outstanding episodic drama. O Yeong Su won Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes.
