Munmun Dutta of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah was probed for 4 hrs

On Monday, February 7, actress Munmun Dutta, well known for her role as Babita Ji in Sab TV’s hit sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah,’ was probed for four hours in a police station in Haryana.

In a complaint filed under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, the actress appeared before investigating officer DSP Vinod Shankar in Hisar on Monday. Munmun Dutta, escorted by two security guards, bouncers, and a lawyer, arrived at the DSP’s office alone, avoiding the media. Munmun Dutta was released on temporary bail by the Punjab and Haryana high court after nearly four hours of questioning.

For the uninitiated, Munmun Dutta had recorded a video on her YouTube page earlier in 2021 in which she made a contentious statement directed towards the scheduled cast community. “I am coming on youtube, and I want to appear beautiful. I don’t want to look like a bhangi,” she remarked in the video. #ArrestMunmunDutta began trending as soon as this video was posted.
