Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has been diagnosed with dengue, leading to a temporary pause in the shoot of the upcoming Telugu film They Call Him OG, starring Pawan Kalyan. The film, which was already facing delays, now sees another setback as Hashmi—who plays the antagonist—recovers from the viral infection.
According to reports, Hashmi began showing dengue-like symptoms while filming in Mumbai. After a round of medical tests, it was confirmed that the actor was indeed suffering from dengue. Doctors have advised him to rest for at least a week before returning to the sets. The actor has informed the film’s production team, who have now put the shoot on hold until his recovery.
The film, directed by Sujeeth of Saaho fame, is a gangster action drama set in Mumbai. Pawan Kalyan plays the lead role of a feared gangster who resurfaces after years to settle old scores. Hashmi’s role in the film marks his official debut in Telugu cinema, raising expectations among fans.
They Call Him OG is set for release on September 25, 2025. The film also stars Priyanka Mohan, Arjun Das, Prakash Raj, and Sriya Reddy in key roles. Emraan Hashmi was last seen in Ground Zero and will next appear in the much-anticipated spy sequel G2 with Adivi Sesh. Pawan Kalyan, meanwhile, has multiple big-ticket films lined up, including Hari Hara Veera Mallu and Ustaad Bhagat Singh.
