Kriti, Varun Voice Hindi Obsession After Over $500M Run

Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan voice the Hindi version of Curry Barker's Obsession, premiering on JioHotstar's Peacock Hub on October 30.

Kriti and Varun Are the Hindi Voices of Obsession

Curry Barker’s Obsession is about to reach Indian streaming audiences in two voices. The thriller, which has already crossed over half a billion dollars at the global box office, premieres on JioHotstar’s Peacock Hub on October 30. In the Hindi version, Kriti Sanon voices Nikki and Varun Dhawan voices Bear. The two actors have shared the screen in Dilwale and Bhediya, but this reunion is purely vocal.

The original English cut keeps the performances of Inde Navarrette and Michael Johnston intact. The Hindi version is a fresh local interpretation of the same story, with Kriti and Varun bringing their own readings to the central characters. Kriti described the film as edgy and said the experience was both exciting and challenging.

Kriti’s first voice role

Kriti Sanon has led major Bollywood films, but voicing another actor’s screen performance is new for her. She said she loved the film, and the part pushed her into a zone she had not explored before. Audiences will not see her face in this one, only her voice as Nikki.

“I’ve never explored a character this edgy before,” Kriti said.

Varun’s second watch

Varun Dhawan said working on the Hindi version made him enjoy the film even more. The close viewing helped him notice small details he may have missed on a first watch. That is part of the hidden craft of dubbing: it forces actors to slow down and study someone else’s performance beat by beat.

What you need to know

  • Voices: Kriti Sanon as Nikki, Varun Dhawan as Bear.
  • Premiere: October 30 on JioHotstar’s Peacock Hub.
  • Original: Inde Navarrette and Michael Johnston remain in the English version.
  • Box office: Over half a billion dollars globally.

Why a star dub changes the watch

For Hindi-speaking viewers, a star-led voice cast can turn an already successful international title into a local event. The film’s strong Indian response suggests the audience is primed. Now the OTT window arrives with an extra access point: purists can keep the original, while Hindi-first viewers get a marquee voice cast instead of a generic dub.

The half-billion-dollar number matters because it moves Obsession from niche thriller to global event territory. That makes the Hindi dub a commercial choice rather than a niche experiment, and it gives JioHotstar a clear marketing hook for the premiere.

Mark the date

Stream Obsession on JioHotstar’s Peacock Hub from October 30. Choose the English audio to experience the film as it played worldwide, or switch to Hindi for Kriti and Varun’s take. The original performances remain available either way, so the only real decision is which voice you want to spend the film with.
