Karan Johar is now working on his forthcoming film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which stars Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh. His recent film, Ae Dil Hain Mushkil, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Fawad Khan, was released in 2016, and it marked his return as a filmmaker after a six-year break. Fans are looking forward to seeing Alia and Ranveer work together again on the big screen following Gully Boy. In the midst of all, Karan Johar recently claimed that Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’s world is quite similar to his 1998 film.

In a recent interview at the ABP Networks Ideas of India Summit on Saturday evening, Karan Johar claimed that if he were to direct his first film in 2022, he would do something akin to Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji’s Kuch Kuch Hota Hain. “I did go through phases of evolution as a filmmaker. But right during the pandemic, I felt I just needed to make a movie that made me feel like I was 25 again. And when I was 25, the only movie I could think of or make was Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, because it was like an accumulation of all the movies that I had grown up watching. It’s a homage to Raj Kapoor, Yash Chopra, Sooraj Barjatya,” said the filmmaker.

During the epidemic, Karan Johar felt forced to return to ‘quintessential Bollywood,’ which had a lot of drama, music, dance routines, and theatrics, among other things.

While the worlds of KKHH and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani are not identical, there are certain parallels. In response to this, Karan stated, “It is a love story, it has a family. It has Ranveer, Alia, senior members of the fraternity, Jaya ji, Shabana ji and Dharmendra ji in the movie. I’m going back to the same world.”
