We Are Family is indeed a Bollywood 2010 Indian drama film directed by Siddharth Malhotra as well as produced by Hiroo Yash Johar and Karan Johar underneath the banner Dharma Productions, having distribution handled by Sony Pictures Entertainment as well as UTV Motion Pictures.

The movie is indeed an authentic remake of the 1998 movie Stepmom and stars Kajol, Kareena Kapoor, alongside Arjun Rampal with in key roles. It was initially set to be released on September 10, 2010, however due to a scheduling conflict with Dabangg, this was pushed back a week and released on September 3, 2010, globally, and then a week earlier in India as well as the United Arab Emirates. It garnered great reviews from reviewers upon its initial release, particularly Kajol and Kapoor’s performances earning praise.

Well with working title Love You Maa, Karan Johar intended to adapt Stepmom for such an Indian audience. He originally planned to acquire the movie’s rights, but instead chose to co-produce it along with Sony Pictures.

From November 2009 to April 2010, the movie was shot in Sydney, Australia, as well as Mumbai, India. Several sequences portraying racial discrimination towards youngsters were deleted, according to Siddharth Malhotra, to prevent the impression of using the controversy over violence against Indians in Australia to sell the movie.

Shankar Ehsaan Loy created six original songs for the album, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil and Anvita Dutt Guptan, including a homage to Elvis Presley’s “Jailhouse Rock.”
