What song is playing as the credits roll on ravage Swing Low movie?

For all of the classic films’ influence and impact on mainstream culture, there is one unpleasant component that must be addressed. Every terrific, well-received picture seems to be followed by dozens of low-budget knockoffs. This is certainly the case with Tobe Hooper’s cult classic slasher The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), and Teddy Grennan’s new indie horror film Ravage at drive-ins as well as on VOD is no exception. Ravage offers the bare minimum of the storyline but that at least exhibits self-awareness with its own flamboyant directing, not attempting to be discreet about style above content.

Ravage opens with such an innocent young blonde, this time a nature photographer called Harper (Annabelle Dexter-Jones), who discreetly observes something she shouldn’t while out on a photo shoot inside a local forest, much like other cliché slasher films. When she rushes to the police station to report what she feels is torture, she is soon abducted by the culprits she saw earlier, and she is on her own to get out of their hands deep inside a barn in the middle of nowhere.

Since its premiere at last year’s film festivals, director Teddy Grennan’s new feature appears to have gone through several working titles.

Although some internet sites still refer to that as Swing Low, the creators appear to have chosen on Ravage as a last-minute re-titling. The old title is a tribute to the traditional gospel-folk song “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot,” which is remixed for a moment upon that soundtrack.

The music soundtrack by Jacques Brautber is among the most fascinating aspects of the new picture, although the new title more accurately represents the movie’s fundamental gore moments. Dexter-Jones, who has appeared in a number of schlocky B-movie horror films, including Jordan Galland’s Ava’s Possessions (2015) and Tara Subkoff’s #horror (2016), is now at ease as the protagonist who must carry virtually every scene.

As the lone major name inside the cast, Bruce Dern makes an appearance. Ravage doesn’t provide anything fresh towards the horror/slasher genre, but it can provide enough entertainment for lovers of the genre.

Megan Bianco is indeed a movie critic as well as content writer residing in Southern California, with such a degree from California State University Northridge.
