Secret Superstar is indeed a 2017 Bollywood musical drama film directed by Advait Chandan as well as produced by Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao underneath the banner of Aamir Khan Productions. Zaira Wasim, Aamir Khan, Meher Vij, and Raj Arjun appear in the movie. The movie portrays the coming-of-age of a young girl who dreams to be a singer and posts videos on YouTube while wearing a niqab to hide her identity, as well as her interactions with her mother, father, and mentor. Feminism, gender equality, and domestic violence are among the societal themes addressed inside the movie.

The critical response to the movie has been overwhelmingly good. Wasim was honoured with the National Child Award for Outstanding Achievement. At the 63rd Filmfare Awards, Secret Superstar earned ten nominations, notably Best Film, Best Director for Chandan, Best Actress for Wasim, as well as Best Supporting Actor for Khan. Wasim won Best Actress (Critics), Vij won Best Supporting Actress, and Meghna Mishra won Best Playback Singer (Female) at the Filmfare Awards.
Secret Superstar was among the most lucrative movies of all time, making $965 million worldwide on a budget of under $15 million, with such a return on investment of almost 6,000 per cent (ROI).

This movie is indeed the highest-grossing Indian film with a female protagonist, the highest-grossing Bollywood movie of 2017, the fourth highest-grossing Indian movie globally, as well as the second-highest-grossing Indian movie outside of India. It’s really the sixth highest-grossing foreign picture in China this year, as well as the second-highest-grossing non-English international movie ever (after Dangal).

Zaira Wasim was cast in Dangal by Aamir Khan when she was 14 years old (2016). Wasim was suggested by Khan when Advait informed him he was searching for a lady of a similar age again for the lead part in his movie Secret Superstar. Advait was so delighted with her that he cast her in the lead part after testing her.

The film’s main filming began on September 1, 2016. The movie was shot in Mumbai as well as Vadodara.

The picture was made on a shoestring budget. The production budget, according to most reports, is Rs. 15 crores. The movie’s entire production and marketing expenditure, according to Rob Cain, is Rs 25 crore. The film’s budget is listed as 45 crores on Box Office India, although it is unclear whether this comprises marketing expenditures.

The movie’s soundtrack was composed by Amit Trivedi, whereas the movie’s lyrics were penned by Kausar Munir. The album contains eight songs, five of which are sung by Meghna Mishra. Sunidhi Chauhan, Mika Singh, and Kushal Chokshi each performed one track.

On August 23, 2017, the music video for the track “Main Kaun Hoon” was released. On September 21, 2017, the entire soundtrack album was published.

Aamir Khan asked A. R. Rahman to create the movie’s soundtrack at first. After Rang De Basanti and Ghajini, Prasoon Joshi was hired as that of the lyricist, reuniting the three. When the production was delayed, however, Rahman as well as Prasoon Joshi dropped out due to schedule issues.

Kausar Munir wrote all of the words, while Amit Trivedi created all of the music.
