Mard: All you should know about this Classic Bollywood Movie

Mard

Mard is indeed a 1985 Bollywood action movie featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Amrita Singh that was released in India. Manmohan Desai is the director of the film. Maaveeran is a Tamil remake of the film. Amitabh Bachchan was nominated for a Filmfare Award in the category of Best Actor. Mard has been the eighth-highest-grossing picture of the 1980s as well as the second-highest-grossing movie of 1985. Mard has been one of the highest-grossing movies made over the Diwali holiday when taking inflation into account.

The plot of the movie

Throughout India, the movie premieres. India is still a part of the British empire within the early twentieth century. The film opens with a troop of British soldiers robbing an Indian fort and transporting its wealth to England by air. The courageous Raja Azad Singh (Dara Singh), who is incredibly strong, manages to lasso the light aircraft, capturing several English soldiers, and retrieve the stolen gems. Raja Azad Singh’s wife Rani Durga (Nirupa Roy) gives birth to a baby boy called Raju around this time. Raja carves the word mard (man, implying strength and courage) into the newborn’s chest, proudly remarking that the infant is smiling throughout and appears to be pain-free. (Mard ko dard nahin hota, which translates to “a real man feels no pain,” is a reoccurring line throughout the film.)

The British committee, chaired by Lady Helena, a compassionate and liberal Englishwoman, conducts an inquiry, which reveals the English forces’ crimes and leads to numerous commanders being publicly chastised. Lady Helena is Raja Azad Singh’s closest confidante and is typically supportive of Raja and India’s freedom from British control.
Mard was primarily filmed at Ooty and other sites in Karnataka, including the Lalitha Mahal in Mysore as well as the Bangalore Castle.

The Soundtrack

Mard’s soundtrack was created by Anu Malik. T-Series published the Soundtrack album, which had six tunes, on June 7, 1985. Inside the tune Hum to tamboo mein bamboo lagaye baithe, critics have accused Desai of employing double-meaning phrases. The track, but on the other hand, was indeed a smash hit. Due to Bachchan’s refusal to participate as a guest in a movie that Kishore Kumar produced, Kishore Kumar did not perform for Amitabh Bachchan, Coolie, or Naseeb in this movie.
Prayag Raj wrote all of the words, and Anu Malik composed the music. The picture debuted to virtually sold-out theatres and earned over $16 million.
