It was about two teenagers who fell in love in secondary school but are unable to fulfil their love due to the girl’s criminal circumstances. There at the box office, the picture was deemed an average grosser. Following the success of their first film, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, this one was Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla’s second film.

Although the picture did not live up to the hype surrounding its debut, it was well-received by audiences.

Aamir Khan’s character, Amit, is indeed a poor guy who lives with his father (Dalip Tahil), stepmother, and sister. He hangs out with his pals at nightclubs and attends college. Reema (Juhi Chawla) is a wealthy young lady. Her father has a company, and she attends the same high school as Amit. Vicky’s (Gulshan Grover) band surrounds Reema. Vicky is the son of the mayor (Raza Murad), a strong figure with whom Reema’s father does business. Vicky is a spoilt brat who is harsh and criminal. He considers everyone to be beneath him and treats them as such.

He is a slacker. He spends his money and time at nightclubs, getting wasted and assaulting people with his gang. Reema is his major interest, and he would easily murder anyone who came across her.

Amit and Reema quickly fall in love. Vicky discovers this and attempts to assassinate Amit. Amit and Reema refuse to give in. They meet again in secret, but then when Vicky learns this for the second time, he goes to his father. His father confronts Amit’s father but also threatens to murder his entire family.

He also threatens Reema with the death of Amit if she does not marry Vicky. Amit and Reema decide to call it quits on their love.

Amit intends to leave the city, but he is astonished when Vicky and Reema pay him a visit and invite him to their engagement celebration. Amit does show up for the evening when he is subjected to Vicky’s and his friends’ humiliations. Later, when the rest of the group is dancing, Amit and Reema use the opportunity and flee the celebration. Amit’s father is shot by Vicky, but he lives. Vicky and his father are nasty, as Reema’s father understands. When Vicky and his father apprehend Amit and Reema, Amit and Reema are rescued by Reema’s father, who then murders Vicky and his father.

Amit and Reema are reunited at long last. Bappi Lahiri, a famous composer, created six songs for the film. The soundtrack for the movie is influenced by the Italo disco style of the 1980s and well-known musicians like Modern Talking, C. C. Catch, and Pet Shop Boys.
