Deepika Padukone wants to work on a fourth movie alongside her husband Ranveer Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the epic filmmaker. Bhansali needed a break (we don’t know about Ranveer) after working with her in three movies (Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani, as well as Padmaavat).
As a result, the legendary filmmaker has cast Alia Bhatt as Gangubai Kathiawadi’s heroine opposite Ranveer Singh in his upcoming movie, directed by Baiju Bawra. “The heroine for Baiju Bawra is not final. It’s likely to be Alia Bhatt. She read the script and offered to do the film for free. Deepika was also keen to do Gangubai Kathiawadi. But at that point in time, Bhansali wanted Alia only. Now Deepika has her heart set on Baiju Bawra. She insists only she can play the role Meena Kumari played in the original,” we learn this from a source close towards the initiatives.
Bhansali is still very much in favour of casting Alia, despite Deepika’s resolve.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie ‘Baiju Bawra’ will be released in 2019.
It is centred on such a maverick maestro’s vengeance narrative. Bhansali’s movie is said to be a replica of the same-named 1952 musical megahit featuring Meena Kumari, Bharat Bhushan, and Surendra. The original movie’s narrative centres around a simple guy named Baiju who has been on a quest to defeat Tansen inside a musical battle in order to avenge his father’s murder.
Aside from ‘Baju Bawra,’ Deepika does have a long list of projects in the works, notably ‘Fighter,’ ’83,’ ‘Sanki,’ ‘Pathan,’ as well as an Indian remake of Nancy Meyers’ 2015 smash Hollywood comedy ‘The Intern.’
In the meantime, Ranveer Singh would appear in films such as ’83,’ ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar,’ ‘Cirkus,’ as well as the Hindi version of the mega-smash ‘Anniyan.’
He’ll also appear in Karan Johar’s upcoming movie, ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani,’ directed by him. Ranveer will reconnect alongside his ‘Gully Boy co-star Alia Bhatt inside the film.
