BTS’s RM and V made a quick visit on VLive on March 6th, sharing their opinions on sweet night their album, records, and the melancholy of playing without the need for an audience.
When V stated that he’s been working on a new album that one of the tunes would’ve been released soon, fans were ecstatic. Because Korean media sites had published on his involvement before from the live broadcast, many assumed he was talking about just the music of the hit drama “Itaewon Class.”
“I composed the tune when I was travelling,” V stated of the soundtrack. I gave instructions as to how I wanted the music to sound.” He went on to say something about the song’s production.
“They struggled because I couldn’t explain what was on my mind… but I fought hard to communicate it, and the song is finally finished.”
We learn that perhaps the protagonist is sleeping inside the opening line as Taehyung begins singing “on my pillow,” expressing their “fragile truth” with someone, or perhaps just thinking out loud. The word “fragile” provides a great feeling of delicacy to the sentence.
It’s also worth mentioning Taehyung’s musical choices. To generate that lovely and dark timbre, he employs a breathy, whispery resonance in his lower register, giving a sense of serenity, resolve, but then also vulnerability. This truth is breakable, something they’ve carefully handled, and they’re eager to share it tonight (“can’t get me weary”).
V expressed his enthusiasm for the OST, saying, “This song is… it’s my style.” This is a fantastic tune. When the Army hears this song, I pray it could cure them.”
A fan posted a sample of an article on Weverse on the 9th, detailing the title, release date, and other details. “Sweet Night = please look forward to it,” V stated, encouraging fans to listen to his music.
“Sweet Night,” V’s debut solo soundtrack, is described as an indie-pop piece with an acoustic feel. It was written, produced, and performed by the idol himself.
