Nevertheless, with Disney’s latest and official announcement of the casting of “The Little Mermaid,” Disney watchers and fans would have to say goodbye to their favourite cast members.

First, at Disney Investor Day 2020, the multimedia company announced the actors and actresses who will play the film’s most popular characters.

Ariel is played by Halle Bailey, Sebastian is played by Daveed Diggs, Prince Eric is played by Jonah Hauer-King, King Triton is played by Javier Bardem, Flounder is played by Jacob Tremblay, Scuttle is played by “Crazy Rich Asians” actress Akwafina, and Ursula is played by Melissa McCarthy.

Disney’s selections have received a lot of positive feedback from fans. “I think Kirsty Alley just would have made a fantastic Ursula, she’s very much Ursula in the documentary spoof series she produced,” Debby Jarman said on Facebook.

Her emotions and demeanour are ideal for the part. Missed chance there, since I don’t think Miss M would give the villain that drives that Kirsty would.”
