Columbia College Hollywood

The private liberal arts institution Columbia College Hollywood (CCH) is situated in Tarzana, Los Angeles, California. The International Association of Movie and Television Schools has granted full membership to just 20 film universities in the United States (CILECT).

The Western Association of Schools, as well as Colleges Senior Institution and University Commission (WSCUC), has granted the college accreditation to provide bachelor’s and associate’s degree programmes in film, visual effects, graphic design, and interactive media.

Columbia College Hollywood was established in 1952 as a branch campus of Columbia College in Chicago in the Los Angeles neighbourhood of MacArthur Park.

The focus of the course was on the rapidly rising television and radio industries. Columbia College Hollywood broke away from the Chicago university in 1959 to become a private, non-profit institution.

Columbia College Hollywood expanded along with the movie and television businesses through its early years, ultimately relocating from MacArthur Park to a bigger facility on La Brea Ave in central Hollywood in 1970. Whenever the institution relocated through into former Panavision offices within Tarzana district of Los Angeles in 1997, it built its current location.

Columbia College Hollywood bought Tribeca Flashpoint College, a creative media school in Chicago, Illinois, in 2018, and then it became Columbia College Hollywood’s first branch campus, currently known as Flashpoint Chicago, a Columbia College Hollywood campus.

It is situated in the South Fernando Valley on such an 85,000-square-foot campus. The campus is located in the Tarzana area of Los Angeles, which acquired its name from the fact that it was built on land once owned by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the author of Tarzan.

On-campus parking, as well as local public transit and railway terminals, are available to students and workers.

The location is close to Walt Disney Studios, 20th Century Fox Film Studios, Paramount Pictures, Sony Picture Studios, and Universal Studios, as well as other Hollywood film and television studios.

A 96-seat 5.1 channel surround sound theatre for screenings, classes, and events, a 35-seat 7.1 channel surround sound screening room, a sound stage, a three-camera HD television stage with a green screen and control room, a Foley/ADR suite with a sound-isolated booth and control room, post-production editing suites, standing sets, an acting studio, writers’ rooms, traditional classrooms, and an equipment room with industry standardised equipment are all available.
