Hollywood & Highland

Hollywood & Highland is a retail centre as well as entertainment complex located on Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Los Angeles’ Hollywood area. The TCL Chinese Theatre (previously Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and Mann’s Chinese Theatre) as well as the Dolby Theatre (formerly known as that of the Kodak Theatre), which hosts the Academy Awards, are indeed part of the 387,000-square-foot (36,000-square-meter) facility. The iconic Hollywood Hotel used to be located in this historic location. It is amongst the most popular tourist locations in Los Angeles, located in the heart of Hollywood along with the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The facility is located directly across Hollywood Boulevard as from El Capitan Theatre and provides views of the Hollywood Hills as well as Hollywood Sign to the north, the Santa Monica Mountains towards the west, and downtown Los Angeles towards the east. The complex’s centrepiece is a three-story plaza modelled by the Babylon scene from D.W. Griffith’s movie Intolerance. Parts of the archway as well as two pillars featuring elephant sculptures upon that capitals were erected to the very same full scale as shown in the video by the retail complex developer. It allows guests to have a sense of the size of the original set.

There are around 70 stores and 25 eateries in the shopping mall. American Eagle Outfitters, Forever 21, as well as Sephora are among the major retail tenants on Hollywood Boulevard. A Lucky Strike Lanes bowling facility, a six-plex movie theatre, as well as a nightclub are all located within the complex. The Grand Ballroom, which hosts the Oscars Governors Ball, is 65,000 square feet (6,000 m2) of gathering area at Hollywood & Highland. The property is home to celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck’s regional offices. The facility also has television broadcasting studios, which housed the studios for Ryan Seacrest’s daily chat show On Air With Ryan Seacrest in 2004. Revolt TV is now based in the studio.

The website also contains the Loews Hollywood Hotel, which has 637 rooms. The same-named subway station upon that Metro B Line is located beneath the structure. Hollywood & Highland is also served by Metro Local lines 212, 217, 222, 237, 656 and Metro Rapid 780.

Inside the early days of Hollywood, the property was home to the 1902 Hollywood Hotel, where many celebrities stayed. The hotel was destroyed in August 1956, and it has been rebuilt with the twelve-story First Federal Building of the First Federal Savings & Loan Association of Hollywood, a shopping centre, and parking lots, despite the early plans for just a high-rise hotel as well as a department store just on location. These were in place until 1998.
