The Oscars will be hosted by Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall

Wanda Sykes, Amy Schumer, and Regina Hall are slated to host the 94th Academy Awards, which will be the first time since 2018 that the ceremony will be hosted by an emcee. The presence of comic veterans Sykes and Schumer among the hosts implies a desire to infuse some levity into the proceedings, though it’s unclear how the duties will be distributed among the three.

The official announcement is anticipated on ABC’s Good Morning America on Tuesday, according to Variety. The awards show will be broadcast on ABC on March 27. The Academy approached Dwayne Johnson initially, but he declined.

Attempts to recruit Pete Davidson as well as John Mulaney, as well as Steve Martin and Martin Short, failed. Will Packer, the Oscar cast producer, changed his mind about having three pairs of hosts all along the process. Many questions were raised, but somehow it appears that Sykes, Schumer, as well as Hall each will host a segment of the programme on their own.

As the current Omicron variety subsides, the Dolby Theatre will be packed for this year’s Oscars. It was revealed last week that the Academy will not require immunizations to enrol, only a recent negative test. Masks may even be discarded.

This year’s candidates include Netflix’s The Power of the Dog, which has 12 nominations, and Warner Bros./Legendary’s tentpole Dune, which has ten. Speciality films such as Japan’s International Feature Oscar submission Drive My Car, Belfast, and CODA are also in the running for the March 27 Oscar ceremony.
