It has become one of the “Big Five” major American film studios as well as a member of the Motion Picture Association (MPA).

Interactive Entertainment; cable tv channels Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Boomerang, as well as Turner Classic Movies; as well as a 50% stake in broadcast television network The CW, which itself is co-owned to ViacomCBS.

The founding Warner brothers, Harry, Albert, Sam, and Jack Warner, gave the corporation its name. In October 1889, Harry, Albert, and Sam immigrated to the United States from Krasnosielc, Poland, with their Polish-Jewish mother, a year after their father came to the United States and settled in Baltimore, Maryland. The eldest Wonsal children, like many other immigrant families, progressively anglicised Yiddish-sounding names: Szmuel Wonsal became Samuel Warner, Hirsz Wonsal became Harry Warner, and Aaron Wonsal became Albert Warner.

The three eldest brothers got their start inside the movie theatre industry after purchasing a projector as well as showing pictures in Pennsylvania as well as Ohio mining communities. Sam and Albert Warner put up $150 to exhibit Life of an American Fireman as Well as the Great Train Robbery just at the beginning. In 1903, they built the Cascade, its first theatre, in New Castle, Pennsylvania. When the original building was threatened with demolition, the contemporary Warner Bros. contacted the present owners and worked out a plan to rescue it. People from all around the country had requested the proprietors to protect it because of its historical value, according to the owners.

The Warners established the Duquesne Amusement & Supply Company in Pittsburgh in 1904 to distribute pictures. Harry Warner employed Paul Ashley Chase as an auditor in 1912. They had started making movies by the time World War I broke out. On Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, they established the first Warner Brothers Studio in 1918. In New York City, Sam and Jack were in charge of production, whereas Harry and Albert, together with the former auditor and so now controller Chase, were in charge of finance as well as distribution. My Four Years in Germany, modelled on a famous book by former ambassador James W. Gerard, was produced during World War I and became its first nationally distributed movie.
