Raut made his Bollywood directorial debut with both the movie, which premiered on July 20, 2017. Upon popular demand, the movie was concurrently dubbed in Marathi by Raut, who previously helmed Lokmanya: Ek Yug Purush (2015), for which he won accolades. Principal filming began on September 25, 2018, and ended in May of 2019. The majority of the shooting took place in Mumbai’s Film City, with a few sequences shot in Pune. Keiko Nakahara and Dharmendra Sharma were in charge of cinematography and editing. Sandeep Shirodkar created the background score, and Ajay-Atul, Sachet-Parampara, and Mehul Vyas composed the soundtrack album, which was published under the T-Series label.

Tanhaji was launched in India on January 10, 2020, in both 3D and regular formats. Positive reviews praised Devgn and Khan’s performances, as well as the film’s visual effects, cinematography, action sequences, art direction, soundtrack, score, and editing.

The movie made $3.67 billion worldwide, earning it the title of “blockbuster.” As a result, it will be the highest-grossing Bollywood movie of 2020. There at 78th Golden Globe Awards, the movie was chosen as being one of the Best Foreign Films to be exhibited.

Ajay-Atul, Sachet-Parampara, and Mehul Vyas composed the movie’s music album, which included lyrics by Swanand Kirkire as well as Anil Verma. Sandeep Shirodkar is responsible for the movie’s background score. Mehul Vyas, Adarsh Shinde, Sukhwinder Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Sachet Tandon, Parampara Thakur, Ganesh Chandanshive, and Harshdeep Kaur all provide vocals to the album’s four tunes. T-Series released it on December 20, 2019.

Except for a few tracks, when Avadhoot Gupte and Kirti Killedar performed vocals, the soundtrack CD for the Marathi version are using the same set of vocalists.

“Ajay-Atul has excelled in the exquisite melding of distinct tempos, and skilfully weaved in the many subtleties of classical and folk in one package,” Debarati Sen of The Times of India said in her review for the soundtrack album, praising “Maay Bhavani.” “With three hummable tracks, the movie’s soundtrack is nice but nothing out of the usual,” Vipin Nair said in his review for The Hindu. “The soundtrack of Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior delivers as promised,” said Bollywood Hungama’s Joginder Tuteja. Although there aren’t too many notable songs in the movie, they do a good job of keeping the storey moving.”
