Rocky

Sunil Dutt helmed Rocky, a romantic action movie from Bollywood released in 1981. Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Dutt’s son, makes his acting debut in this movie, which also features Reena Roy, Tina Munim, Amjad Khan, Raakhee, Ranjeet, Shakti Kapoor, and Aruna Irani. Sunil Dutt also makes a guest appearance. Aruna Irani was nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress, the movie’s lone nomination.

Sanjay Dutt as well as Reena Roy battle against Shakti Kapoor and Tina Munim in a dance competition to the classic song “Aa Dekhe Zara,” which Shammi Kapoor plays. Sunil’s wife and Sanjay’s mother, Nargis, died only a few days before the movie’s debut.

This was the tenth highest-grossing movie of 1981.

Shankar (Sunil Dutt) is a well-educated young guy who works for Ratanlal in the construction industry (Anwar Hussain). Shankar is also a union representative who wants Ratanlal to enforce workplace safety standards. Shankar is murdered in a work-related accident before he can achieve this, leaving behind his wife, Parvati (Raakhee), and his little son, Rakesh. Rakesh is traumatised as a result of this encounter, and the tragedy is replayed in his head whenever his mother approaches him.

Parvati is told to stay away from Rakesh, as well as Robert (Amjad Khan) and his wife, Kathy (Aruna Irani), adopt him and nickname him Rocky.

Rocky (Sanjay Dutt) has grown up without knowing who his biological mother is after all these years. Rocky’s life is carefree until he meets Renuka and falls in love with her (Tina Munim). Then that is what he discovers that he is Rakesh, that his mother is still alive, and also that his father was killed rather than dying unintentionally. Rocky decides to seek vengeance for his father’s death. He receives assistance from a rape survivor (Reena Roy).

But he has no idea that his days, as well as those of his loved ones, maybe numbered.

The movie’s music was created by R. D. Burman, while the lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi, as well as the songs have remained popular to this day. R.D. Burman’s Bengali number “Eki Bhalobasha” and Amit Kumar’s song “Jeona Jeona,” both created by R.D. Burman, were both inspirations for “Kya Yehi Pyar Hai.” Hits included “Aa Dekhe Zara,” “Hum Tumse Mile,” as well as “Kya Yahi Pyar Hai.” Rocky has a Telugu adaptation (1987).
