Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are expected to tie the knot today at the Vastu mansion of the Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani star in Bandra. Their wedding festivities began yesterday with the Mehendi ceremony, which was attended by their closest friends and family members. Shakti Kapoor, who had a strong relationship with Rishi Kapoor, stated today that he would have gone insane if he hadn’t been able to attend his son’s wedding.

Shakti voiced his disappointment at Rishi Kapoor’s absence from Ranbir’s wedding in a recent interview with Hindustan Times. “Says the actor,”  “I am sure he will be happy and dancing up there, and blessing the couple. I am so glad that Ranbir has not further delayed the wedding, which Chintu wanted to see with his own eyes. But life has to go on. It is the right time for Ranbir to get married now.”

Shakti went on to say that when he shuts his eyes, he sees Rishi dressed in a white Punjabi safa, standing at the gate, and dancing his heart out for Ranbir’s wedding. He also remembers Rishi being concerned about the Barfi actor’s wedding and wondering why children nowadays don’t marry at the appropriate age. “Aaj agar Chintu hota woh toh sab ko pagal kar deta. He would have been the happiest,” he added.

The 69-year-old actor expressed his delight that Rishi Kapoor’s desire had come true.

Ranbir and Alia met on the set of Brahmastra in 2017 and made their public debut as a pair at Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja’s wedding reception in 2018.
