Javed Akhtar offers his opinions on the boycotting tradition in Bollywood: “It’s only a phase”

Many movies, including Laal Singh Chadha, Brahmastra, and others, have recently been the target of boycott campaigns on social media. Veteran poet and screenwriter Javed Akhtar has expressed his opinions on it.

Not just Laal Singh Chaddha has been affected by social media boycott tendencies. Brahmastra, Vikram Vedha, Pathaan, and many more films have recently been the target of boycott campaigns, and many famous people have voiced their opinions about this Bollywood cancel culture.

Javed Akhtar has expressed his opinion on these boycott initiatives and claimed that they are only a fleeting fad.

The seasoned poet and screenwriter was recently questioned on the boycott and cancel mentality that is growing popularity in Bollywood. Javed Akhtar claimed in an interview with ETimes that the boycott culture is ineffective and that a good movie will succeed despite a boycott. “It is a passing phase. It is very evident that it doesn’t work. If the film is good and is appreciated by the audience, it will work. If it is not good and not appreciated by the audience, it won’t work. I don’t think this kind of announcement of cancel culture and boycott works at all,” said Javed Akhtar.

Prior to its release, there was a significant boycott movement for Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chadha. The actor has previously stated in an interview a few years back, “Our country is very tolerant, but there are people who spread ill-will”.
