Due to demand for Sooryavanshi, Mumbai cinemas beyond midnight

Before the epidemic wreaked havoc, the creators of Sooryavanshi declared that their movie would be shown in Mumbai 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The action film was set to be released on March 24, 2020, there at the time. Maharashtra Tourism as well as Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray’s ambition to make Mumbai into the city that really is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week included running Sooryavanshi’s concerts for 24 hours, included shows after midnight. Unfortunately, the much-anticipated film directed by Rohit Shetty and starring Akshay Kumar has been postponed as a result of the country’s lockdown. It was ultimately released on Friday, November 5th.

Surprisingly, the producers of Sooryavanshi’s aim of providing shows at all hours was realised, but only in a few theatres.

The movie was in such high demand that the latest showing at the Maxus theatre in Borivali, Mumbai, was at 11:45 p.m. yesterday (November 5). The following performance was at 12:30 a.m., and by performances at 1:15 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. The concerts began at 4:30 a.m., followed by 5:15 and 6:00 a.m., after one two-and-a-half-hour break. Surprisingly, all of these performances were sold out or virtually sold out.

Some other Maxus theatre, in Bhayandar, screened Sooryavanshi at 12:45 a.m. and had a positive response.

However, Movie Time’s Chembur location would have to keep a show running until 12:30 a.m. “We programme shows according to demand,” a staff member at one multiplex informed this reporter when approached. Our performance at 11:30 p.m. was completely sold out. Many individuals still were interested in seeing it and inquiring for tickets. We didn’t want them all to go home disheartened, and we could tell they were keen to watch the movie. As a result, we decided to organise a performance at 12:30 a.m.

He went on to say that the attendance at this after-midnight performance was encouraging, adding that “We’ll hold the same show even tonight as well as tomorrow night.”
