Dilip Kumar’s Twitter handle to be deactivated

The official Twitter account of late legendary Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar will be deactivated. Saira Banu has given her consent for the same. The announcement was made on the micro-blogging site by a family friend Faisal Farooqui on Wednesday.

This comes months after the actor breathed his last on July 7 at the age of 98 due to age-related ailments. Sharing the picture of Dilip Kumar, Farooqui tweeted, “After much discussion and deliberation and with the consent of Saira Banu Ji, I have decided to close this Twitter account of beloved Dilip Kumar Saab. Thank you for your continuous love and support. -Faisal Farooqui.”

Faisal kept Dilip Kumar’s fans updated about his health through his Twitter handle.

Dilip Kumar breathed his last on July 7 due to an age-related illness. He died at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital where he had been admitted for breathing issues. The thespian’s close aide and a family friend told a news agency: “He passed away peacefully this morning in the presence of Saira Ji and other family members and doctors.”

Dilip Kumar, born Mohammed Yusuf Khan in Peshawar, is considered one of the best actors in Indian cinema. He was last seen in the film Qila in 1998.

Some of his big films include Madhumati, Mughal-e-Azam, Azaad, Ram Aur Shyam, Ganga Jamuna, Kranti, Karma, Aan, Devdas, among others. Dilip Kumar was conferred India’s highest award in the artform, Dadasaheb Phalke Award, for his contribution towards Indian cinema, and received the Padma Bhushan, the second-highest civilian award in the country.
