Cinemas in Mumbai have been advised not to screen films after 31st 8 pm

The Covid-19 situation has begun to develop once more, particularly in Mumbai, India’s entertainment city. The number of cases has increased dramatically inside the previous ten days, forcing officials to reimpose some restrictions in the city. This is especially true given that tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, when folks are in the mood to assemble and celebrate. The Mumbai Police have enforced Section 144 throughout the city after realising that such a circumstance might lead to widespread Covid-19 cases. Restaurants and parties were not urged to avoid gatherings and celebrations earlier in the day.

Now, the Bollywood Society has learned that movie theatres, too, have been required to adhere to some limits, but only until December 31. A multiplex insider informed Bollywood Society, “We have been told that no show should be played beyond 8:00 pm tomorrow. Meaning, the last show of the day should begin before 8:00 pm, say at 7:30 pm or 7:45 or 7:55 pm.”

The source continued, “We had got a lot of bookings for night shows of 83, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Pushpa: The Rise – Part 01 for tomorrow. As these shows stand cancelled, we’ll refund the money to the viewers. Since the time we have been informed about this directive, we have stopped selling tickets of tomorrow’s night shows at the box office counter.”

Today in Mumbai, the number of daily Covid-19 cases surpassed 3000. Meanwhile, theatres in Delhi have been closed since Tuesday. “As of present, we are ordered to obey this regulation only for one day, on December 31,” the insider stated. We hope that now the authorities do not impose limits or order us to shut down in the future days. After all, we’d just been back for two months.”
