BAFTA 2021: Iconic actors Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor given tribute

The 74th British Academy for Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) posthumously honoured artiste.  Edith Bowman and Dermot O’Leary hosted BAFTA 2021. Over 40 artists from the movie world who passed away last year were given ahomega  This included actors, writers, directors, and technicians. The video clip started with a tribute to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Irrfan’s name was accompanied by dialogue from his 2012 Hollywood film “Life Of Pi”. Other late artists included in the video were Ian Holm, Sean Connery, and Barbara Windsor.  The video rounded off with a tribute to “Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman. BAFTA was held on Sunday night at Royal Albert Hall, London.

Bollywood lost two iconic stars in the year 2020.  Both the legends passed away after a considerable battle with long-term sickness. Irrfan died on April 29 last after battling a neuroendocrine tumour for two years. A day later we lost Rishi Kapoor to cancer.  In addition to the nation’s coping with the pandemic, April 2020 was a tremendously sad month.  Hindi cinema fans were devastated as Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor passed away one day apart from each other. Irrfan’s significant Hollywood films were Life of Pi, Jurassic World, and Inferno to name a few. Rishi Kapoor has left an indelible mark in the history of Indian cinema through nearly 5 decades and over a hundred films to his credit.

Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor: Legacy lives on

Both actors are remembered to date with a heavy heart by the fans.  They have left a legacy that is being carried forward by their sons  Ranbir Kapoor Babil Khan respectively. Ranbir is certainly one of the prominent stars of this nation. Rishi Kapoor was fortunate enough to have witnessed the success of his son.  Ranbir Kapoor debuted in Bollywood with the movie “Sanwariya” and has given major blockbusters for over a decade.  Irrfan’s son Babil has recently announced his debut in a Hindi film.  His first venture is “Qala” under Clean Slate Films. The producer of Qala is Anushka Sharma and the movie is being directed by Anvita Dutt of “Bulbul” fame.
