Agneepath

Agneepath is indeed a 2012 Bollywood Hindi-language adventure drama movie made by Hiroo Yash Johar and Karan Johar underneath the banner Dharma Productions as well as helmed by Karan Malhotra, the latter’s former assistant. It is a remake of Mukul S. Anand’s 1990 film version, and that it revolves around a script written by Malhotra and Ila Dutta Bedi based on an edited version of Santosh Saroj’s original narrative, with lines written by Piyush Mishra. Throughout the movie, Johar pays homage to his father, Yash Johar, the original movie’s producer. Ajay-Atul composed the movie’s soundtrack, alongside Amitabh Bhattacharya writing the lyrics.

The name is based on a poem by Harivansh Rai Bachchan with the same moniker, which serves as a conceptual link throughout the movie, especially literally as well as symbolically.

Hrithik Roshan plays the protagonist Vijay Deenanath Chauhan, a common man seeking vengeance for his father’s death, and Sanjay Dutt plays the antagonist Kancha Cheena, roles that were previously played by Amitabh Bachchan and Danny Denzongpa, respectively, with Rishi Kapoor portraying the newly introduced character Rauf Lala, an underworld gangster.

Commissioner Gaitonde is played by Om Puri, Kaali Gawde is played by Priyanka Chopra, as well as Suhasini Chauhan is played by Zarina Wahab, alongside Katrina Kaif appearing inside an item number. In the course of avenging Kancha, who wrongfully framed and murdered his father inside the island town of Mandwa, Vijay meets Rauf and falls in love with a chatty girl named Kaali Gawde.

Agneepath’s principal photography took place in Diu and Mumbai, with many set mishaps. Agneepath was launched on 26 January 2012 on 2650 screens globally, coinciding with the Republic Day celebrations, following various difficulties such as plagiarism charges and release date postponements.

With such a worldwide revenue of over 195 crores, the picture, which was made on a budget of 58 crores, smashed the greatest opening day collections record in India. Since then, it has become one of Bollywood’s highest-grossing movies. Agneepath earned five nominations and five IIFA Awards and four Zee Cine Awards the next year at the annual Filmfare Awards event.

Amitabh Bhattacharya wrote the lyrics for Agneepath, while Ajay-Atul created the music.
