The CW has given pilot orders to the Supernatural prequel series The Winchesters, Walker’s spinoff Walker: Independence, and the DC comic series Gotham Knights. In addition, the network has purchased six more screenplays for its Zorro reboot.

The Winchesters, according to Deadline, will recount the epic love tale of how John met Mary and how they risked all to rescue not only their love but the entire world. There are no details on who will replace Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Samantha Smith, who portrayed John and Mary throughout the duration of Supernatural, as well as Matt Cohen and Amy Gumenick, who played younger versions in flashbacks.

After 2014’s Bloodlines and 2017’s Wayward Sisters, which aired as backdoor pilots during the original show’s run although didn’t proceed to series, The Winchesters will be the third potential Supernatural spinoff. Jensen Ackles, who will play Dean in the prequel series, will executive produce with Robbie Thompson, who will write the pilot.

Walker’s prequel series, Walker: Independence, will be developed in the late 1800s and therefore will feature Abby Walker, a rich Bostonian whose spouse is killed right in front of her eyes while being on their way out West. Abby encounters Hoyt Rawlins, a charming rogue in need of a cause, while on her journey for vengeance. They make their home in Independence, Texas, where nothing is as it appears.

Executive producers for Walker: Independence include Seamus Fahey, Anna Fricke, Padalecki, Dan Lin, Lindsey Liberatore, and Laura Terry. The pilot was co-written by Seamus Fahey and Anna Fricke.

Gotham Knights is a new DC series written by Batwoman’s Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux, and Natalie Abrams, based on DC characters established by Bob Kane and Bill Finger.

Following the assassination of Bruce Wayne, the series follows his rebellious adopted son, who forms an alliance with the offspring of Batman’s foes when they are all accused of killing the caped-crusader. The crew of fugitives might be the city’s next saviours, with Gotham as deadly as it’s ever been.

Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions will fund Gotham Knights. Executive producers are Chade Fiveash, James Stoteraux, Danny Cannon, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden, with Natalie Abrams acting as co-executive producer.

The CBS Studios drama Zorro, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is about a young Latina woman seeking vengeance for her father’s death. She joins a secret club and takes on the character of Zorro, an outlaw. Sean Tretta, Robert Rodriguez, and Rebecca Rodriguez are writing and directing the CW adaptation. Propagate’s Ben Silverman, Rodney Ferrell, and Howard T. Owens, as well as Geoff Clark, Eric Bromberg, Zorro rights holder John Gertz, and Jay Weisleder, executive produce.
