Mumbai: Stand-up comedian Sudesh Lehri is in the news these days for appearing in The Kapil Sharma Show. He has appeared in the promo of the new season of the show. Born in Jalandhar, Sudesh lives in a luxurious four-bedroom house in Mumbai but it has not been easy for him to reach here.
Sudesh’s struggling story can surprise anyone. Let us tell you that Sudesh has seen extreme poverty in his childhood. He never saw the face of the school.
The comedian started working in a tea stall in his childhood where he used to get only one rupee. There was a time when there was only one sleeper in his family and everyone used to wear it. He could not afford vegetables for food and only bread, salt and water were used for his work.
Sudesh’s father used to work as a goldsmith and in the evening he used to spend 100-200 earnings in alcohol. Sudesh witnessed a bad phase even after marriage.
They had no income and Sudesh used to send children to elders to get money. When he was called from there and he was given dry fruits along with tea and snacks, he used to bring handfuls and bring them home for his children who were hungry throughout the day. Sudesh participated in many award shows in Punjabi but he was not financially strong.
There was a time when he did not have any savings and had to sell even the house.
In an interview, Sudesh had said that his life changed after participating in the comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge 3. He was at number three in this reality show. Kapil Sharma became the winner of the show. After this Sudesh worked in many comedy shows including Dekh India Dekh, Comedy Circus, Comedy Classes and never looked back. Krushna Abhishek compared his Mumbai home to a 7 star hotel.
