Mahhi Vij: Judge Asked Her 4 Times to Reconsider Alimony

Inside Bigg Boss 20, Mahhi Vij says she took no alimony from Jay Bhanushali and reveals the judge asked her four times to reconsider.

Mahhi Vij: Judge Asked 4 Times, She Declined Alimony

Mahhi Vij has put a number to a very private decision. Inside the Bigg Boss 20 house, the actor said she did not take “a single penny” in alimony or maintenance from her estranged husband Jay Bhanushali — and that the judge in their case asked her four times to reconsider.

The moment arrived during a rough patch in the house. Mahhi had earlier apologised to Arishfa Khan after making remarks about her upbringing; the matter resurfaced on Wednesday when Arishfa called her “cheap”. Mahhi then broke down while talking to Aasif Khan.

What Mahhi said about the money

“I didn’t take a single penny in alimony or even ask for maintenance. I’m here on my merit, only so that my daughter’s life is secured,” Mahhi said. She added that Jay does offer to help, but she does not feel she can ask him for money.

She framed the choice as one made for daughter Tara, not against Jay. “It’s not like Jay doesn’t offer to help, but I cannot ask for money from someone. It’s his hard-earned money,” she explained.

The court’s four reminders

Mahhi said the judge in their divorce proceedings asked her four times to reconsider before agreeing to move forward. “He insisted that I take it,” she recalled. “I didn’t take it because Jay earned that money after working very hard.”

She clarified that this did not mean Jay would leave her without support. “Not that he will refuse me for anything… his entire locker is open for me,” she said, adding that he had put in long hours to earn that income — 16 hours at work, as she described it.

A familiar headline, corrected

Mahhi’s comments revisit reports that appeared in January, when she and Jay announced their divorce. Some outlets claimed she had asked for Rs 5 crores as alimony. Mahhi denied those reports at the time in a YouTube vlog, urging people to wait for her word and asking for privacy for herself and their children.

Now, on national television, she has returned to the same subject — this time to say she took nothing.

Why this matters to Bigg Boss fans

  • Mahhi is centring her story on financial independence and single motherhood.
  • The alimony comment comes after an argument about how she spoke to Arishfa, who was raised by a single mother.
  • Her statement challenges the tabloid narrative around a Rs 5 crore demand.

The conversation also signals how her Bigg Boss journey may be framed: less about celebrity gossip, more about survival, work and Tara’s future.
