Bigg Boss 20 Crosses 100 Crore Watch-Time Hours in Under 60 Days
Bigg Boss Hindi Season 20 passes 100 crore watch-time hours on JioHotstar in under 60 days, with voting up 71% and Gen Z driving 45% of viewing.

Twenty years after Bigg Boss first brought 24/7 reality drama to Indian screens, its twentieth Hindi season is moving at a pace the franchise has never seen. Bigg Boss Hindi Season 20 has crossed 100 crore watch-time hours on JioHotstar in under 60 days, making it the fastest season in Bigg Boss history to reach the mark.
The season had already opened with the biggest first day ever for a reality show on JioHotstar after its September premiere. The 100-crore milestone now turns that opening spike into sustained momentum.
What the big number means
JioStar’s Alok Jain, Head of Hindi & English Entertainment Business, put the scale into perspective: the digital number works out to more than an hour for every person in the Hindi-speaking market before television viewing is even counted. “We are excited to have crossed 100 crore hours on JioHotstar with nearly half the season still to go,” he said.
Fans are running the show
The viewership story is now a participation story:
- 350 crore votes have been cast this season, a 71% jump over the previous season.
- 48% more fans have taken part in voting.
- 3x the memes have been created by viewers.
- Jeeto play-along participation has more than doubled.
The show has become something closer to a live, choose-your-own-drama loop, with the audience voting, polling and debating as the day unfolds inside the house.
India leads, the world follows
Domestically, Gen Z now accounts for 45% of total watch time, while connected TV viewing keeps rising, pointing to family co-viewing on larger screens. The season has stayed among JioHotstar’s top five titles in the UK, Canada and Singapore since premiere, and ranks No. 1 on STARZPLAY in the UAE.
That reach has commercial momentum too: 24 sponsors across FMCG, e-commerce, beauty, healthcare, electronics, home appliances and home services have signed on.
Why it matters for Bigg Boss
Host Salman Khan credited the viewers, saying the show’s real game happens outside the house too: “Bigg Boss ka asli game sirf ghar ke andar nahi, ghar ke bahar bhi chalta hai.” He said the record belongs to the audience.
For JioStar, Bigg Boss is the centrepiece of its Always On Unscripted strategy, a 24×7, six-language format that keeps the platform’s entertainment pipeline always warm. Endemol Shine India founder and Group CEO Deepak Dhar called the milestone a gratitude moment, noting that every hour represents a viewer who chose to spend time inside the Bigg Boss house. The format is owned by Banijay Entertainment and produced by Endemol Shine India, and with nearly half the season still ahead, the pace could climb further.
