Anil Kapoor, Farah Khan Apologise After Geeta's 9-Hour Wait

A nine-hour wait with no updates

Geeta Tandon and her son arrived at a TV game show set at 12:30 PM as invited guests. The segment, they were told, would be shot within a couple of hours.

It did not turn out that way. They waited inside a tent with no clarity and no updates from the production team. The hours stretched into an entire day. By the time they left, it was 9:15 PM – more than nine hours after they had walked in.

What hurt the most

In an Instagram post, Geeta Tandon described the experience. What stung most, she said, was “the complete disregard for our time” and the disrespectful way her son and she were treated. They had been invited as guests, yet they were made to feel as though their presence did not matter.

She also addressed a bigger problem. “Being a celebrity should not determine how much respect someone deserves,” she wrote.

When they questioned the production team, the response made things worse. Production manager Jaydeep reportedly said they could leave, but “they can’t leave without signing.”

Anil Kapoor and Farah Khan respond

After the post went up, both Anil Kapoor and Farah Khan apologised.

Farah Khan explained that she had been shooting the second episode in the evening and had no idea Geeta was on set. She said she would have made her sit in her own van – and that Anil would have done the same had he known. “We have tremendous respect for you and your hard work,” she wrote.

Anil Kapoor, too, shared his thoughts and apologised for the way Geeta was treated.

Why this matters

This is not just one bad day on one set. It is a look at how easily production culture can normalise long, unexplained waits – and at how quickly guests can be made to feel invisible before the cameras even roll.

The timeline says it all:

  • 12:30 PM: Geeta Tandon and her son arrive for a short segment
  • Hours pass: no updates, no clarity, from the production team
  • Confrontation: they are told they cannot leave without signing
  • 9:15 PM: they finally walk out, over nine hours later

The episode also highlights a familiar power dynamic in Indian television. Guests and crew often work around star schedules, while production staff – rather than the stars themselves – set the tone on the ground. That gap is exactly where Geeta Tandon’s note landed: she did not claim the stars had instructed anyone to behave badly, but asked them to take responsibility for what happened behind the scenes.

She addressed her note to Anil Kapoor, Farah Khan and production house Banijay Asia together. The apologies matter because they put the names attached to a show on the record. But the deeper fix lies in process: honest call sheets, a single point of contact for guests, and the basic right to walk away.

Fans, too, are watching. Audiences increasingly judge the industry not only by what happens on screen, but by how people are treated when the cameras are off. An apology is a start. Lasting change is the real test.
