Following the success of Cars and Cars 2, DisneyToon Studios attempted to extend the universe with two spinoffs, Planes (2013) and Planes: Fire and Rescue (2013). Subsequent Planes 3 were shelved as the studio closed down, and Pixar went on to produce Cars 3. Now since Disney+ is up and running, the studio has been working on a Cars series, and it appears that certain Planes characters may make a reappearance.
Stars from Planes movies, such as Dusty Crophopper, Ned, Zed, Leadbotttom, and El Chupacabra, will all feature in the series, according to reports. Dane Cook, Gabriel Iglesias, Cedric The Entertainer, and Carlos Alazraqui are all set to return in their respective roles. Other franchise characters are likely to show up, although it is unclear who all these characters will be or whether this actor would reprise their roles.
Cars, a brand-new Disney+ series premiering in Fall 2022, following Lightning McQueen and his best pal, Mater.
Mater embarks on a cross-country journey. These episodes are jam-packed with new people, creative places, and old acquaintances stopping by for a visit. Steve Purcell wrote the show, and Marc Sondheimer produced it.
Cristela Alonzo will play Cruz Ramirez in the series, which boasts an impressive ensemble. Keith Ferguson as Lightning McQueen (Ferguson has voiced the character in earlier cartoons and video games), Paul Dooley as Sarge, Cheech Marin as Ramone, and Bret Iwan reprise their roles as Lightning McQueen’s best buddy, Mater. After Toy Story, Cars is the second Pixar brand to be released by Disney. Cars premiered on June 9, 2006, followed by Cars 2 on June 24, 2011, and Cars 3 on June 15, 2017. Planes and Planes: Fire & Rescue, both produced by Disneytoon Studios, are two spin-off films. John Lasseter, the CEO of Pixar Animation Studios, directed the first two films, while Brian Fee directed the third.
The three Cars movies have made a total of $1.4 billion just at the worldwide box office. A Space-themed Planes 3 spinoff was apparently in the works, but it was scrapped.
