While speculations about Alia Bhatt joining the blockbuster YRF Spy Universe has been hitting headlines for nearly 6 months now, Yash Raj Films’ CEO Akshaye Widhani confirmed this huge development today at FICCI Frames!
When prodded constantly to reveal one new development within the YRF Spy Universe, Akshaye said, “I’ll share the worst kept secret in the industry, which is, Alia Bhatt is headlining a Spy Universe film and that the schedule starts later this year. But you know, talking about this spy universe, we are actually just so thrilled and excited about having this IP in the studio.”
He adds, “I think the YRF Spy Universe is a financial and cultural juggernaut. And as one of the most prized IPs, we take a lot of pride in it. So there’s a lot of stuff that’s going to come on the spy universe. We’re going to see more and more films getting made under it. But of course, not going to share everything here. But we will talk about it at a more opportune time. But for now, I can just say that Alia Bhatt is headlining a spy universe film.”
Alia Bhatt is set to team up with young and rising Bollywood star Sharvari Wagh in the yet-to-be-titled film. They will play super-agents in the action entertainer!
The YRF Spy Universe kicked off with Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger (2012) then followed by Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), and War (2019), starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. It was taken forward with Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham and then Tiger 3 with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. Now, the next project will be War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan, NTR Jr. and Kiara Advani and directed by Ayan Mukerji.
Akshaye also touched upon the super successful year YRF has had on streaming with The Railway Men, about the Bhopal Gas Tragedy, being a global hit show! It trended at Number three on Netflix! The Romantics, a docu-series on YRF and its impact on Pop culture for 50 years, also became a global success story.
Akshaye says, “The Railway Men trended in over 36 countries, but you feel the success of content when you know people who don’t speak your language, are watching the content and appreciating it. For me, that is a huge definition of success. We are a company that is not afraid to fail. We want to be able to do disruptive content.
He adds, “India loves the movies. It’s a big part of our culture, it’s a big part of our team. And I think The Romantics was a journey that every viewer went on. So everybody has a YRF story in their life. My parents had a YRF story from Yash Ji’s times. I had a YRF story from Adi’s times. So like me, there are other people who all have a YRF story. There is a song that played at your wedding, which was from a YRF movie. There was a time in life when you went watch a movie and that was a YRF movie and you went with that certain someone which you might be with or might not be with, but you still have fond memories of.”
Akshaye further says, “I think, because of that connect, and connect with this company, and the studio has had it, it’s a cultural connect with audiences. And I think that’s what excited people and drew people to watch the Romantics that would make them love it more. The sheer nostalgia here, as to the youth connected to them, because again, there was a story about their family, or a movie that they have watched and loved. Not to forget, it also had Aditya Chopra making his debut on screen and that gave us incredible amount of eyeballs!”

The much-awaited teaser for Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani will be released on June 20th, Pinkvilla was the first to reveal. Yesterday, Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, and Alia Bhatt shared a post with the caption, “A new ERA of LOVE begins tomorrow.” Fans were eagerly waiting for the announcement as it was clear something was cooking about the film.
On the director’s birthday earlier in May, Karan Johar revealed 10 posters for the movie introducing the whole ensemble. According to rumours, Ranveer is a member of the wealthy Randhawa family, while Alia is a Chatterjee family middle-class daughter. The massive movie will be released in theatres on July 28. The movie’s narrative, music, and trailer have fans interested. It will surely be Karan Johar’s interpretation of a love tale, but one of the movie’s standout features is reportedly its music. Movie Review:
Notably, Ayan Mukerji has failed to craft a fantasy adventure movie’s plot. Finding the three components of Brahmastra and the struggle to preserve it is quite perplexing. The language appears juvenile, and the screenplay is poor. I don’t believe Ranbir Kapoor is the right actor for this role. Mouni Roy seems awful in the movie. The first half of the movie is still stronger, but the second half is quite weak and occasionally boring. Another flaw with Brahmastra is the excessively long running time of the movie. After seeing the full movie, it appears like the special effects and visuals have been woven into the narrative.
If we discuss the positive aspects of the movie Brahmastra, we can say that its visuals and special effects are excellent and look great in 3D. This movie has breathtaking visuals. In their respective parts, Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt do well. The two tracks by Brahmastra are also good. The effort put out by the whole production team is seen on screen. The chase sequences are wonderfully filmed.
If we talk about the merits of the film Brahmastra, then its graphics and special effects are superb and look good on screen in 3D. That is, this film is visually spectacular. Amitabh Bachchan and Alia Bhatt are fine in their roles. Brahmastra’s songs are also fine. The hard work of the entire team of the film is reflected on screen. The chasing scenes are shot very well.
Because Ranbir and Alia are shown together in the movie after their marriage, there is a chance that it may have a strong opening weekend. The movie has also been promoted incredibly well. However, the movie is having trouble maintaining a strong box office performance. Overall, I give this large-budget movie two stars since it is poor.

After six long years, Karan Johar will make his directorial debut. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, his most recent movie, was released in 2016 and starred Anushka Sharma, Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Fawad Khan in significant parts. And today, on February 10, 2023, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani will open in theatres. It has prominent appearances by Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Jaya Bachchan, Dharmendra, and Shabana Azmi.
In an interview with IndiaToday.in, Karan Johar discussed the film’s leading stars as well as his return to directing. He stated: “I am directing after six years and it will be out in the middle of 2023. We have finished and wrapped the film. We have one song to go and I can’t wait for the audience to see it. Ranveer and Alia are fantastic, their chemistry is palpable. I am also very honored to actually work with Jaya (Bachchan) aunty, Dharamji, Shabana Azmi, and a group of really strong actors from Bengali cinema. Also, some very new actors who have never done feature films before, are in the film. I am just waiting for everyone to watch it.”
In other events, in the most recent episode of Koffee With Karan 7, Karan recalled feeling self-conscious just four days after he started filming Student Of The Year, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra’s acting debut. He claimed to have asked the question “why are we producing this film?” while seated alongside the creative director Abhishek Varman. He asked, “huh?” Johar responded by asking, ‘Have you read the script?’ He went on to say, “Four days into the shoot I read the script cover to cover. I don’t know what I was doing. I think I was drunk or something. I started shooting this film and I was like, ‘Why is this script so bad?’”
In the meantime, Karan is also anticipating the arrival of the much-discussed Dharma Productions-produced mythical fantasy sci-fi movie Brahmastra.
