These series have the power to reach a large audience that transcends decades, making them something more than fantastic television. These renowned series, which appear to be ageless, may never go out of vogue.
Some of them are still on the air in syndication decades after that the series ended. Others, but at the other hand, are just so successful that they’re broadcasting new episodes while still in syndication.
Several top-billed members of something like the cast and crew profit for years whenever television series reach that level of fame. Networks, too, profit through syndication since they can continue to earn from programs that don’t demand a production expense.
‘Modern Family’
“Modern Family,” which premiered in 2009 as well as lasted 11 seasons, was a huge hit for ABC. As per Variety, the sitcom’s series finale in 2020 received a whopping 7.4 million viewers, demonstrating the show’s enormous popularity.
According to Statista, the show’s average ad income per 30-second commercial remained stable between $224,000 and almost $240,000 from the 2014-15 season to the 2017-18 season. During the 2018-19 season, this number reduced to $164,767 per 30-second commercial, and $148,228 in the 2019-20 season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, USA Network paid $1.5 million per episode for syndication rights to “Modern Family” in a 2010 contract. In 2021, Hulu and NBCUniversal’s Peacock will split streaming rights to all 250 episodes of the sitcom.
