Priyanka Chopra Jonas Backs JioHotstar’s Hunkkaar: The Roar
Priyanka Chopra Jonas explains why she backed JioHotstar's Hunkkaar: The Roar, a series about power, belief and a teenager's fight for justice.

Priyanka’s latest producing move
Priyanka Chopra Jonas has added another socially charged title to her slate. The actor-producer is an executive producer on Hunkkaar: The Roar through Purple Pebble Pictures, joining Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment on the JioHotstar series.
The show premiered on JioHotstar on September 25, 2026, and is a Mangata Films production. Karan D. Kapadia, Nitya Mehra and Heeraz Marfatia direct.
“I’m always drawn to stories that have depth and meaning, and Hunkkaar: The Roar is one such story.”
Chopra Jonas said, praising the care the creative team brought to the subject.
The story at the centre
Hunkkaar: The Roar follows Meenu Rawat, a 17-year-old girl who accuses a powerful spiritual leader of sexual assault. When the case gains national attention, the series tracks how power, belief and perception shape the search for justice.
That focus on institutions and influence places the series in familiar territory for Purple Pebble Pictures, which Chopra Jonas has long positioned as a home for new voices and distinctive stories.
Why her banner keeps taking these bets
Purple Pebble Pictures has worked across languages, genres and formats. The slate includes the Marathi film Paani, a National Film Award winner for Best Film on Environment Conservation and Preservation, as well as Ventilator, Firebrand and The White Tiger.
Chopra Jonas has also executive-produced the Oscar-nominated documentary To Kill a Tiger and the Oscar-nominated short Anuja. Hunkkaar extends that run, this time in a streaming drama format with a female-led narrative at its core.

What Priyanka’s involvement signals
For an audience that follows both stars and the stories they choose, a big-name producer credit can direct attention to a sensitive drama that might otherwise be overlooked in a crowded streaming market. Here, it also links the series to the festival and awards credibility Purple Pebble Pictures has built over recent years.
“At Purple Pebble Pictures, we want to tell good stories, give new talent a chance and provide the audience with an entertaining experience,” Chopra Jonas has said about the company’s approach.
