Meesaya Murukku 2 Hits SonyLIV on Nov 6 for Diwali

Meesaya Murukku 2, starring Hiphop Tamizha Adhi, premieres on SonyLIV on November 6, 2026, with Tamil plus four dubbed versions for Diwali.

Meesaya Murukku 2 Lands on SonyLIV This Diwali

Hiphop Tamizha Adhi’s family saga about Gaana music is heading to streaming. Meesaya Murukku 2 will premiere on SonyLIV on November 6, 2026, the Diwali holiday, roughly six weeks after its theatrical opening on September 25.

Where and how to watch

The platform is releasing the film in its original Tamil and with dubs, which widens the audience beyond the core Tamil market. Viewers can choose from:

  • Tamil, the original version
  • Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi dubs

That five-language rollout is a notable step for a music drama rooted in a very local sound. It suggests SonyLIV is treating the film as a pan-India release rather than a niche Tamil title.

The story: three generations, one sound

The film begins with Gaana Das and Lakshmi, who want to carry the street music of North Chennai into the mainstream industry, only to be dismissed by established players. It then moves to their son Tiger Siva, who keeps the ambition alive amid money problems and a changing music scene, before landing on his son DJ Jeeva.

Jeeva is where the family dream gets its modern push. With his friend Harshath, he takes on industry insiders who exploit independent artists. Instead of waiting for label approval, he blends traditional Gaana beats with contemporary production and tries to build an independent movement that can reach audiences beyond India.

Adhi wears every hat

Like the film’s protagonist, Adhi is doing the heavy lifting off-screen too. He stars in triple roles, wrote the screenplay, composed the music and directed the film. The cast also includes Ketika Sharma, Chaithra J Achar, Ramya Ranganathan, Baba Bhaskar, Karunas, Vidhya Borgia, Harshath Khan and Yogi Babu.

The project follows Meesaya Murukku, released in 2017, which drew from Adhi’s own life and his rise through Tamil music. This sequel broadens that personal story into a multi-generational arc, which gives the OTT audience a ready entry point even if they missed the earlier film in theatres.

Why the Diwali timing works

For fans, the date is the point. A Diwali premiere means the film lands on a day when family viewing is at its peak, and a music comedy drama fits that slot well. For independent artists watching the plot, it is also a reminder of what OTT can do: a title that might have been restricted to one region can now travel in five languages on the same day.
