Hanuman Ansh to stream on SonyLIV after ₹342 crore run

The devotional sleeper hit Hanuman Ansh is finally moving from the big screen to streaming. Director Vishal Chaturvedi confirmed on Friday that the film will arrive on SonyLIV on November 27, after a theatrical run that rewrote expectations for a modest, starless release.

From ₹10 lakh opening to ₹342 crore

Few films are declared finished as early as Hanuman Ansh was. Made for only ₹2 crore, it opened at ₹10 lakh and had gathered barely ₹1.50 crore in its first two weeks, according to trade figures shared by Sacnilk. At that point, it looked like another small devotional title lost in the market.

Then word of mouth took over. From the fourth week onward, the film collected more than ₹60 crore net each week at the Indian box office. By the end of its run, it had earned ₹342.44 crore net in India and ₹452.86 crore worldwide. The film stayed in cinemas for more than 80 days, a rare feat in today’s release cycles.

The total places Hanuman Ansh among fewer than 25 Hindi films to cross the ₹300 crore mark in India. It has also overtaken the domestic lifetime hauls of several pan-India releases, including Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, Yash’s Toxic and Ram Charan’s Peddi.

A spiritual story with an unlikely star

Hanuman Ansh is not built on a traditional star vehicle. It tells the story of Lakshminarayan, a young man who loses his mother and sets off across North India in search of answers about God, life and death. His journey eventually brings him to a transformation into Neem Karoli Baba, the spiritual teacher whose teachings continue to inspire devotees around the world.

The cast is led by Shobhinaw Satyaa, joined by Vihaan Shedge, Chandan K Anand, Purnima Tiwari, Anil Rastogi, Gulshan Pandey and Bhagvandas Patel. The announcement described the film simply: “A divine force. An extraordinary story. A film loved by the nation, now coming home.”

Why the streaming release matters

For SonyLIV, the premiere lands while the film’s numbers are still part of the conversation. Hanuman Ansh is the kind of title that gives a platform a ready-made audience: people who missed the theatrical wave and the devotees who want to revisit the story.

  • The budget was ₹2 crore against a ₹342.44 crore net India total.
  • It opened at ₹10 lakh, then crossed ₹300 crore in its eighth week.
  • It spent more than 80 days in theatres and now drops on SonyLIV on 27 November.

For the audience, the release offers a chance to see what the crowd really meant. The run of Hanuman Ansh is a reminder that the Indian box office can still reward a story that connects, however quietly it begins.
