Every big-ticket OTT series lands into some trouble. It is now the turn of Bombay Begums to face some heat. The series that recently aired on Netflix has received flak from National child rights body NCPCR.

Bombay Begums stars Pooja Bhatt, Shahana Goswami, Aadhya Anand, Amruta Subhash, and Plabita Borthakur. The show captures the story of four women trapped in the snake-pit of corporate India while the story is narrated by Aadhya Anand, who is a teenager. In this show, these five women – Rani, Fatima, Lily, Shai and Ayesha fight misogyny and patriarchy and carve their way to success.

On Thursday, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has raised objections in regards to the show. They have asked the OTT platform to furnish a detailed action report within 24 hours through a notice. Failing to reply to this may result in NCPCR “to initiate appropriate legal action”.

The objection raised by NCPCR,  there is”inappropriate portrayal” of children in the web series.

In its notice, NCPCR has also mentioned that, “Netflix should take extra precaution while streaming any content in respect of the children or for the children and shall also refrain from getting into such things.

Bombay Begums was Released on March 8, 2021. It is written and directed by Alankrita Shrivastava.
